So here is the big tip I used to share with my parents and
friends with children: When shopping this year for school supplies grab
the next grade's list too. So let's say your kiddo is going into 2nd
grade - When the supply list comes out, grab the 3rd grade one (or if
your school provides special lists ask for the next grade's) as well.
Why on earth do you need this??? Because as soon as school starts,
school supplies will go on clearance!!!! Then you just go to clearance
sales with the list for next year and buy everything they need for dirt
cheap!!!
Target is great with clearance but you need to check those
sales often! They can go from 50% off to 90% in a week, so stay on top
of it for really big savings. Sure the school might add or remove
something from the list the following year but usually the core items
always remain the same. You might be wondering about how pens, markers
and highlighters will hold up and I can assure you they hold up just
fine! I would always buy my classroom supplies on clearance and make
sure it was enough to last a year or more. I have not taught in over 3
years but my markers and highlighters and pens that I still have from my
teaching days still work. So one year will not affect the quality!
